Spectrum News 1 Interviews IILA Board Chair and Pro Bono Immigration Attorney Linda Dakin-Grimm About Threats to Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

Published On: May 11, 2026

Linda Dakin-Grimm, International Institute of Los Angeles Board Chair and Pro Bono Immigration Attorney, was called upon by Spectrum News 1 on April 30, 2026 to comment on their investigation of the potential end of TPS (Temporary Protected Status) for lawfully admitted immigrants:

“After hearing oral arguments Wednesday, the Supreme Court appeared to be leaning toward backing President Donald Trump’s push to end Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals — particularly from Haiti and Syria,” Spectrum News 1 reports.

“The Department of Homeland Security has already halted TPS protections for people from more than a dozen different countries, including Venezuela, Ethiopia and Afghanistan. The protections for Syrians have been in place since 2012, when a civil war broke out in the country. The potential for a sudden end to the program has local Syrian families worried about their future.”
